At Camp Coast Care, we are a Christian community of faith that provides a welcome and hospitality to volunteers wishing to serve in the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort. Camp Coast Care operates recovery and reconstruction missions for those in need on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
We are so thankful you have shown an interest in the rehabilitation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Your help is still greatly needed. Please feel free to browse our web-site for up-dated information and current needs.
Please be advised that the recovery process has been approximated to take a minimum of 10 years. Volunteer help will be needed for years to come. We ask that you keep not only Camp Coast Care in your thoughts and prayers but those in the community whom have been given such inspiration from volunteers all across the globe.
Things to bring:
COMPLETED FORMS
WORK CLOTHES
The work here is hard and grimy. There are no facilities to do regular loads of laundry. Please make sure you bring several extra changes of clothes to ensure that you have clean, comfortable clothes for the duration. Heavy pants (denim jeans, etc.), work boots or other hard-soled shoes are recommended at all work sites.
SLEEPING GEAR and TOWELS
There are cots available here at Camp Coast Care for sleeping. However, you must bring your own bedding, pillows, etc. You might consider having ear plugs if needed. Restroom and shower facilities are provided.
COMFORT ITEMS
Bring snacks, books, magazines, journals, etc., or things to make yourself comfortable.
LUGGAGE
Try your best to fit all of the above into one reasonable sized piece of luggage. There's not a lot of extra room for "stuff" in the vans or in the dorm!
