Progressive Christianity
OK. Progressive Christianity is “not your father’s” 20th century liberal Christianity; and it’s not just evangelical Christianity or emergent Christianity with a social justice bent. So what is it? We offer here a variety of descriptions and resources, with the trust that you will arrive at your own conclusions—and your own questions! Plus we ask you to add your voice to this emerging 21st century expression of Christianity that seeks to be faithful to the life and teachings of Jesus, especially as found in the Beatitudes.
To speak with clarity and compassion: A New Small Group Resource for You
Delwin Brown, author of What Does A Progressive Christian Believe? once said, “A commitment to justice will not endure and be effective without the strength, clarity, and depth provided by theological clarity, verbal competence, and a deep, disciplined spirituality. Even more than that, a lasting vocation of justice-seeking requires the development of a Christian worldview in which each dimension—the mind, the voice, and the spirit—leads to and is fed by the others.”
The Beatitudes Society is proud to present the pilot program of a new small group resource: A Progressive Christian Vision for Our Time. This small group process includes theological and biblical exploration as well as reflection on the social, cultural and political issues of the day, and the contemplative spiritual practices that under gird faithful witness.
