Interfaith Worker Justice Fellowship
Description:
The 2011 Beatitudes Society Fellow will provide valuable support to Interfaith Worker Justice’s national anti-Wage Theft campaign. The Fellow will take part in resource development and outreach to congregations and local interfaith groups to educate and engage people of faith around this national crisis. The Fellow will create religious resources, including sample liturgical materials, for congregational education on the issue of Wage Theft. Additionally, the Fellow will reach out to congregations and community groups around the country to engage them in a National Day of Action against Wage Theft.
Skills Required:
Fellows interested in working at Interfaith Worker Justice will possess the following skills:
• Ability to work independently
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Basic knowledge of social justice issues
• Organizational and planning skills
• Capacity to meet deadlines
• Ability to interact with diverse groups of people of faith
Other preferred, but not required, skills:
• Spanish language skills
• Familiarity with worker justice and organizing methodologies

Interfaith Worker Justice provides its interns with a variety of experiences. Below is a sample of the kinds of activities IWJ’s Fellows engage in:
• Attending a week-long organizing training in Chicago
• Connecting with IWJ’s Seminary Summer internship program (through shared training, theological reflection, and support)
• Attending IWJ’s 15th anniversary national conference in Chicago
• Supporting worker organizing campaigns and public policy efforts
• Networking with and engaging national religious leaders committed to worker justice
• Expanding knowledge and experience of various faith traditions, including Christian, Muslim, and Jewish traditions
