Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions (CPWR) Fellowship
Description:
The Beatitudes Society Fellow will be involved in one of the three following organizational initiatives for the summer of 2010. In your cover letter that you submmit with your application for this position, clearly indicate which project you are most interested in working with, and how your skills qualify you for that particular project.
(1) International Marketing and Outreach
• On-going diffuse outreach to our 50,000 constituents in 80 countries
• Creation of new campaign strategies to reach out to new constituents
• Development, design and on-going management of new social networking medias including Facebook Fan page, Twitter page, and our proprietary social networking site which is currently under development
• Continuing development and nurturing of PWR Ambassadors, a new initiative to increase awareness of our work in local communities
(2) 2014 Parliament of Religions Site Selection Bid Team Process
• Rollout and management of the 2014 Parliament of Religions Site Selection Bid City process
• Outreach to approximately 10 international city delegation teams who are interested in bidding for the 2014 Parliament of Religions (current sampling of interested countries includes: Turkey; Singapore; Sweden; Arizona, USA; Thailand; and Jamaica)
• Management of key relationships, timelines for completion of Request for Proposals, analysis of bids being received to assess geographic, political, economic and social viability
(3) Outreach for Partner Cities Network
• Management of communications and outreach to organizers of seventy-two 2009 Parliament of Religions local celebration events organized by local interreligious groups in 35 countries around the world.
• Cultivate relationships further and encourage metropolitan-based interreligious groups to apply to the Partner Cities Network
• Research and build database of international metropolitan-based interreligious groups to invite them to explore the network, assess whether they would like to join the network and to support their process of applying to the network
Skills Required:
Fellows interested in working at Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions will posses the following skills:
• Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced, team environment
• Ability to take initiative to see projects through independently
• Strong written and verbal skills, with preference for awareness of cultural nuances in communicating with people of diverse cultural and religious traditions
• Basic knowledge of world’s religious and spiritual traditions, and interreligious movement
• Logistical, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to interact with diverse groups of people of faith

The Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions provides its Fellows with a variety of experiences. Below is a list of the types of activities in which CPWR Fellows engage in addition to their assigned work project:
• Participation in national organizational strategy meeting held in Chicago
• Collaboration on projects with CPWR summer intern team from a variety of academic institutions
• Contributions to organization’s planning for regional, international gatherings
• Representing CPWR at Chicago metropolitan area interfaith events and programs
• Site visits to religious and spiritual places of worship and sacred sites in Chicago metropolitan area each Friday
