Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good Fellowship

Description:
The Fellow will be expected to work closely with Alliance staff on long-term and short-term projects related to: 1) Media; 2) Membership Development; 3) Strategic Coordination.

Media:
•    Maintain media tracker of CACG mentions in a variety of media, particularly online
•    Manage rapid response team in collaboration with Media Director by crafting responses to CACG mentions in blogs and other venues
•    Advise Online Organizer about social media opportunities related to Facebook and Twitter
•    Write a weekly post for the Alliance’s Just Words blog informed by theological reflection
•    Compile the Catholic Media Report, a weekly summary of national and local news about the intersection of faith and the public square

Membership Development:
•    Research opportunities for CACG supporter expansion among Latino and African American communities by identifying organizations for outreach and expanding contacts in database
•    In collaboration with Program Development Manager, research various CACG web campaigns for attracting new supporters, especially college-age

Strategic Coordination:
•    Participate on conference calls and at regular meetings hosted by partner organizations working on CACG core issues, especially immigration reform (Interfaith Immigration Coalition IIC and Justice for Immigrants) and climate change.  

Skills Required:

Catholics in Alliance expects its 2010 Beatitudes Society Fellow to have basic experience with non-profit organizations as well as a familiarity with various forms of media, including print and online.  

Unique Opportunities:
A newly installed executive director of Catholics in Alliance as well as an enhanced online presence and infrastructure will present especially worthwhile opportunities for our 2010 Beatitudes Fellow.  Additionally, Catholics in Alliance can facilitate meetings with a range of partner organizations and allies, including staff from the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships (including former CACG Executive Director, Alexia Kelley, who is currently the Faith-Based Director at the Department of Health and Human Services).
