California Interfaith Power and Light Fellowship
Description of Work:
• Organizing, outreach, writing, research, database, blogging.
• Help arrange speakers for where we might want to send a speaker to talk about CIPL
• When appropriate, speak at events on behalf of CIPL
• Assist with outreach to campus ministries and other youth
• Research national and state legislation on global warming and energy policy as requested
• Assist with letters and other communications with elected officials, including setting up meetings for annual Lobby Day in summer 2010
• General office work: answering phones, filing, photocopying, mailing
Skills required:
Good communication skills are essential. Basic computer skills such as Word, Excel, and Power Point. Web skills, esp. with wordpress, and familiarity with advocacy and environmental issues also helpful.
Unique opportunities this internship provides:
Getting to know not only how a state wide interfaith organization works, but also gaining exposure to the a national network of approx. 30 state Interfaith Power and Light programs. Helping to implement our online advocacy program. Working with our founder, the Rev. Sally Bingham, and being part of a dynamic, fun, and creative team. Helping to build a religious response to global warming.
