Environmental Health and Justice Tour Feb. 28
On Sunday, Feb. 28 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., GreenFaith and the Ironbound Community Corporation will offer our Newark Environmental Justice Tour, offering people of faith an opportunity to see firsthand the impact of pollution on communities of color and low-income communities. Register for the Tour here.
The Tour will begin and end at First Hopewell Baptist Church in Newark. Participants will board a bus and visit several contaminated sites that exemplify the environmental health threats that face Newark residents, and residents of many older cities. “The Tour really opened my eyes,” said Kay Furlani of the Archdiocese of Newark, and a participant on a previous Tour. “There’s no substitute for actually seeing what excessive pollution does to a community.”
There is a $25/person registration fee, which covers the cost of transportation and a contribution to support the Ironbound Community Corporation’s work.
