Cultivating Communities of Moral Discernment: Exploring Best Practices for Teaching and Preaching about Justice
What It Is Not: A workshop providing how-to's for preaching and teaching about justice.
What It Is: A day of focused conversation among rostered leaders who feel called to teach and preach about justice, and who are interested in exploring issues such as:
What are the goals of preaching and teaching about justice?
- How does one preach meaningfully about justice without either directing people what to think or diluting the message into meaninglessness?
- What are parameters for choosing the best context for addressing an issue from the pulpit versus in a small group discussion?
- What are the effects on the congregation when sensitive issues are addressed and how do we provide pastoral care?
Participants will have time for prayer with the monastic community
Cost: Room (one night) and 3 meals: $79.09
