Bread for the World Fellowship
Description:
Bread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. We are implementing a new church resourcing and communications strategy. As part of this, Bread is producing resources to be used by local churches for worship, study and reflection around issues of hunger, poverty and justice. We also distribute a monthly email resource for pastors, “Bread for the Preacher,” which provides lectionary-based commentary, prayers, bulletin announcements and program ideas. The Fellow will contribute to this body of work, by editing and organizing existing materials and by writing new ones.
Skills Required:
Strong Biblical background and theological understanding of social justice issues. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a team.
Unique opportunities:
In addition to spending their time on projects which help end hunger and are selected to match the Fellow’s goals for the summer, the Fellow will have an opportunity to: attend Bread for the World’s June 2010 Hunger Justice Leaders Gathering and Lobby Day, have lunch with Bread for the World President, David Beckmann, participate in Hill drops and other advocacy work, as well as to be involved in DC area trips regularly arranged for Bread for the World interns (tours, work at food pantry, etc).
