Bread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation's decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. As part of a new church resource strategy, Bread will produce resources for worship, study and reflections around issues of hunger, poverty and justice to be used by local congregations. We also distribute a monthly email resource for pastors, “Bread for the Preacher,” which provides lectionary-based commentary, prayers, bulletin announcements and program ideas. The Fellow will contribute to this body of work, both by editing existing materials and writing new ones.
Strong Biblical background and theological understanding of social justice issues. Strong preaching and writing skills.
The Fellow will have an opportunity to attend Bread for the World’s June 2009 National Gathering and Lobby Day, have lunch with Bread for the World President, David Beckmann, participate in Hill drops and other advocacy work as well as be involved in DC area trips arranged for interns (tours, work at food pantry, etc).
