Circuit Rider's Post: What do New Jersey & Ohio Have in Common?
Fresh off the circuits - I've just had a great time meeting folks in the Princeton/Trenton area of New Jersey! Last Friday evening I had the pleasure of getting to know some of the leadership of Revive! Justice at a gathering sponsored by The Beatitudes Society. Because of the diligent work of Princeton seminarian Andrew Wilkes, a ProNet (professional network) chapter is emerging in the Princeton area. Clergy, activists and students came out for fellowship, pizza, a couple frosty mugs and to learn about creating a professional chapter in their local area. The organizers of Revive! Justice are thinking, talking, praying and planning for ways to stay connected with social justice minded leaders after the upcoming June event. From the looks of things the support of The Beatitudes Society might be just the thing to help create regular Meet-Ups for the local leaders.
But wait? What about Ohio you ask? Well more great folks in my future. Jared Littleton and Cassi Smith, conveners of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio chapter of The Beatitudes Society have been hard at work getting the word out about the planned Social Networking Seminar for Faith Leaders. The seminar is half full with students, clergy and lay leaders serving the communities around Ohio. I am looking forward to the chance to meet progressive faith leaders who will be participating in this simple, fun, clear and relevant look at social networking tools for communities of faith.
You too could start a professional chapter, host a Meet-Up or plan for me to come share the Social Networking Seminar for Faith Leaders!
Peace,
Kimberly
