Professional Network Growing!
This past week has been exciting for The Beatitudes Society. We are so
excited about the energy around the growing Professional Network (ProNet).
We hosted two great meetings - one in Atlanta and one in Washington D.C.
The Atlanta group met for coffee hour (turned into two hours because folks
were have such a good time) at Sun in My Belly, a lovely little cafe in
Kirkwood. Convenver Susannah Davis (pastor of Kirkwood UCC) I
were blessed to welcome folks from the UCC, UMC, PC(USA), The Resource Connection, Emergent Church & a social justice seeking Baptist pastor, a professor from Interdenominational Theological Center and the chaplain of a local college! Converstation was
lively as leaders shared their stories and acknowledged how much they value
these types of connections. The group is meeting again in January.
In Washington D.C. Executive Director Anne Howard and I welcomed a large
group of professionals and seminary students for an evening at Bus Boys and
Poets at K and 5th. Clergy, students, and non-profit leaders mingled with
co-hosts Rev. Donna Claycomb Sokol and Rev. Carol Howard Merrit, Robert
Jones of Public Religion Research and our board members Jennifer Butler,
Executive Director of Faith in Public Life, and author Diana Butler Bass!
Now THAT is professional networking.
From both of these meetings came the clear message that this is just the
sort of connections progressive faith leaders need to nourish their call and
ministry. We, the staff of The Beatitudes Society could not be more excited
about the opportunity to bring people together in such meaningful ways!
