The Rev. Anne Sutherland Howard

Executive Director

Before coming to her new role at The Beatitudes Society, Anne served as Associate Rector at a church well-known for its prophetic social justice teaching, preaching and action, Trinity Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara, CA .She is now Preacher-in-Residence at Trinity. Prior to ordination, she was Director of the Interfaith Center to Reverse the Arms Race at All Saints Church in Pasadena, CA. Since ordination in 1988, she has served as Associate and Interim Rector at All Saints by-the-Sea, in Santa Barbara and as Canon to the Ordinary for Bishop Fred Borsch in the Diocese of Los Angeles, and also as Director of Mt. Calvary Invites, an adult education program of Holy Cross Monastery in Santa Barbara. She is a graduate of Episcopal Divinity School and the University of California, Santa Barbara. She travels widely from Santa Barbara, where she lives with her husband Randy Howard. Their son, Benjamin, is a medical student, intent on turning the world upside down - and also surfing. Stephanie Wert Borrett

Program Administrator

Stephanie earned a Masters degree in Nonprofit Organizations from the University of Georgia in 2004. She and her husband, Stuart, both graduated from Austin College in Sherman, TX, she with a BA in Psychology. Stephanie is an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is honored to have the opportunity to serve the church with energy, intelligence, imagination and love. Together with Stuart and children Caitlin and Davis, she enjoys biking, gardening, camping, hiking, exploring, and playing! Email Stephanie  

Betty Wenzel

Development Assistant

Betty brings her financial management skills to The Beatitudes Society via 10 years in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley and Seattle. She is a graduate of the University of California at Davis. She now lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, Pete, and their two daughters, Grace and Kate. She is actively involved in the justice, hospitality and childcare ministries at Trinity Episcopal Church. Betty spends her free time playing tennis, cooking and biking to the park with her children.
