The fellow’s primary duties will be for the Communications Department, but will also include work on major projects for the Executive staff. Duties will include:
• Research and writing for major articles and research reports.
• Assist in researching and writing briefing papers and backgrounders on social justice issues such as immigration reform, health care and poverty.
• Assist with planning and coordination for National Common Good Convention including logistics and program.
• General media and communications assistance, including managing press lists, making pitch calls and assistance drafting press releases, fact sheets and talking points.
• Monitor religious and political blogs for postings on social justice issues.
• Write and update content for web site.
• Ability to analyze, interpret and apply church doctrine to communications materials and other educational material for Catholic and general audiences, including secular media.
• Strong writing skills.
• Familiarity with major computer programs such as Excel and PowerPoint.
• Basic understanding of web and Internet; html knowledge would be beneficial but not required.
• Good interpersonal and communications skills.
• Knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching
